A World of My Own

Done with Project: Alice.

Finished doing it while watching the news today. Haha. I kinda am okay with the outcome. Though not as satisfying as the Ariel one. :( I don't really like the outlining of it. Haa.

Alice in Wonderland was one of my favourite Disney movies when I was little. I loved the bizzare fantasy world of Wonderland. The concept of Wonderland had helped me win a few art competitions back then. Also, there was this one time I was cast as a character named "Alice". I played a kid in this adult play (I call it an adult play 'cause I didn't know what the play was about at the time) and I was exited. Seeing my character's name, I wore a dress similar to Alice's to the play too. Haha. So yeah, it has been a big influence to me art-wise, and it got me interested in fantasy.

I decided on doing a full-body illustration of Alice. It's been a while since I've done a full-body picture. So yeah. :D I was jugling with Peter Pan, Wendy and Alice, and I went with Alice. :) I might have to do a guy chatacter after this. L0L at me being one-sided. :P

I've also blogged about MJ's recent passing before this. You can check that out if you want to too.

Michael Tribute Post

It's all over the news, music channels, radio stations, newspapers, webpages, twitter, facebook, and, well pretty much all over the web.

Though I'm not a crazy big fan of Michael Jackson. I felt like I've lost a chunk of myself after knowing about the sad news of his passing. Michael has undoubtedly played a huge part in everyone's lives. Most of us grew up listening to him; watching over him through thick and thin.

There was one little thing that happened just before his passing in Malaysian time. I was thinking about how great it would be staying 5 years old; a kid. As my friends whould know, I was on a Disney marathon, so I went through the movies and through the Kingdom Hearts games on youtube. I thought of how great would it be if there was a Neverland.

...wait. There WAS. Michael's Neverland. I thought of that for a while. It was the first time I thought about Michael in a while. And I thought of Michael and how he was as a character. I thought about how similar we are in the sense that we are kids at heart. But it was only a brief thought, so I went offline...

...a few minutes before he passed.

Next morning, I found out that twitter and facebook were full of tweets about his passing. I was devistated. And after thinking about him last night. Even if was just for a brief moment. Like many others, I too, grew up listening to his songs. My first music video that I saw was "You are Not Alone". I remember watching it all over and over again on video tape ('cause my dad used to tape a lot of shows and stuff from tv) with my brother...making fun of his unbuttoned shirt and his navel. Haha yeah, I was like, 3 at the time, what'd you expect?

That was also my dad's favourite songs. The song "Heal the World" was also played a lot when I was young, and I thought it was sad so I didn't like listening to it since it made me feel like crying. Haha. Now that song means a lot right now...along with "Black or White". Truthfully, I'm most fimiliar with his famous singles. I didn't even know some songs existed till my dad pulled out his old CDs just recently. And I didn't even know he had 'em.

So yeah, I put this little thing together as a tribute to dear ol' Michael. :( And for the record despite all the the accusations, I've never thought they were true. I'm sad that he had to live such a dramatic life. Rest in Peace, MJ. Thanks for growing up with me.

Song of the Day: Currently jamming to "Black or White". Not by Michael, but by Adam Lambert. :)

A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes

Let me introduce you to one of my heroes. You know David Archuleta, as my musical hero. My artistic hero is this dude.

Yes you got it. The guy who created Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney. Haha. As much as I've dreamed of become in a 3D animator in Pixar's animation studios, my 2nd choice (in the animation industry if I don't get a position as a 3D animator) would be a key animator or inbetweener for the hand-drawn Disney movies. Because I feel that traditionally hand-drawn animations should be well preserved and kept going. :)

I simply adored all the movies and the cartoons that has been created under Disney's name. Animated features, especially Beauty and the Beast (that was released in 1991, my birth year) has heavily influenced me in the sense that it got me to read. I adored Belle and used to immitate every single part she played. I'd carry the basket and walked while I read, and even go around singing and acting all dramatic. Haha. I adored all the animated films naturally, although I admit I haven't seen ALL of Walt Disney's produced live-action movies. :D

Anyway, at a point I was so crazy with Disney that I had my dad place a subscription for Disney magazines, and he'd get me these Christmas-themed read-along books for Christmas. And basically, Disney's animations and cartoons were the reason I started drawing in the first place anyway. I remember that my favourite original Walt Disney character was Goofy and I used to draw him on the wall when I was 2 years old. And after that from Kindergarden and thru Primary School, I learned to draw characters by tracing. Haa. Good times.

I've been having my own Disney marathon. Tonight, I watched Aladdin. One of my favourite movies of all time with a lesson to always be yourself. I LOVE Robin Williams as Genie. And I love how they animated him. :D

Song of the Day: "Proud of your Boy" sung by Clay Aiken. This song was released in the Special Edition DVD of Aladdin. This was one of the rejected songs for Aladdin because it interfered with the timeline. I loved it when Clay sang this. you can watch it HERE.

Hot and Cold

Seriously, I think my flu is getting worse. Thanks a lot, Became *glares at packet of meds*. It's SO hot today. I really didn't know what to wear today. If I wore my sleeveless shirt, I'd sneeze when a breeze comes in. If I wore something thick, I'd sweat to death. Hypathetically of course. So I ended up wearing my sleeveless shirt + my long-sleeved shirt. So it was twice as hot, I was sweltering, BUT! I felt comfortable. Cept for the fact my nose kept running.

Anyhoo, I feel random today. Anyone feel random? Here's what's currently outside my house.

Yup. The overgrown bougainvillea tree. :D Also known as the trademark of my house whenever you wanna come visit. Haha.

I saw this at the MPH bookstore.

MUSIC THEMED PENCILS! I want em. Like. SRSLY! Maybe I should get one for my music teacher as a farewell present. She's a pencil nut. Hee.

And um... I did this recently.

Meet Ariel. One of my favourite Disney princesses. :D Haha. I'm pretty impressed with the outcome. I did the eyes a little differently I guess...This took like, 3-4-close to 5 days 'cause I was really concentrating on every detail so it'll come out neat and tidy. :D I did the outlines slowly too this time. Wee. Finally something that I think looks nice. Haha.

...though the pic could use more shading though. *slapped*

Anyhoo, hope my random-ness isn't a bother to anyone, and if it is, SORRY! Haha.

Btw, please go HERE and sign the petition so that David will do a full-blown concert in Malaysia soon!

Thanks!

That's Amore

I fell sick this week. Which was a little wierd, 'cause I DON'T fall sick. Well, at least more than a day. I guess...lol yea, I'm still human. xD So, I guess I'll have to accept the fact that I can get terribly sick sometimes. :(

Lookie what I got in the mail today. (Woo! I was in time to take it from the post-laju people today! And I was in my PJs and messy hair. Woo, groggyness!).

Special thanks to the very sweet and very kind ShuYee and her sister who helped buy this for me. :D I can't beleive the insides. Kind of like "just the issue I need" with simple natural makeup tutorials instide as well. I love the colours and creativity the Singaporean editors put into this mag. I enjoy reading it very much. Haha. And the poster is HUGE! And super-pretty. :D I don't dare tear it off though haha.

Thought of wrapping it in plastic...so the sides wont crease like my Life Story Mag. I'm a terrible mag owner, I tell you. Hahah.

This weekend is Fathers' Day. :) What should I get for my daddy? Another tie? LoL!

Song of the day: "That's Amore"- James Marsden. Also known as the love and food song! 8D I SO can relate to this song. Haha. Love it so much. Alan Menken, you ROCK! This is from the "Enchanted" soundtrack.

A Prayer for Children

This is going to be a long post. I'm sorry. Haha.

When my little sister was born, I never even thought she was cute nor was I happy. Probably because I was still around 10-11 years old at the time. Or...probably because I still had an ill heart then. I never liked kids at the time...no matter if they were of the same age or younger. I hated if when they cried (I still do, a little bit) and played around and made noise. Bottom line, I wasn't fond of kids.

But.

Two nights ago, I had the most enlightening conversation with a really amazing kid of 6 years old, who sadly just lost his dad to leukimia. Orphaned at a young age, how sad. His mother passed when he was born; and she didn't even get to see her own child.

So here are a few exerpts from the chat. Thank you Rose, for letting me chat with him. Haha.

-------------

Jared: Thankyou debra. Can I call you Debra?

Me: Sure, however you like.

Jared: instead of Debz. ok, thanks. miss Hunter is making some soup for me, i am hungry but i am scared to tell her

Me: why are you scared?

Jared: because my aunty scold me last time when i told her i was hungry.

Me: Oh my gosh. That's a wierd thing to be upset about. How did your aunty know about what you said?

Jared: she came to my daddy's house last time, i told her me was hungry, then she scolded me. she told me to cook myself

Debz: oh my gosh

Jared: and daddy said she said toilet words

Debz: well that's very mean of her.

Jared: But she is my aunty. I can't say anything.

-------------

Me: oh that's nice. What types of cars do you like?

Jared: i like mustang car

Me: ohh nice

Jared: my daddy told me he sold his mustang car when i was born. but he does not want to tell me why

Me: Oh I see. Never mind, maybe one day you can get a new one.

Jared: miss Hunter says mustangs are alot of money.

Me: Yeah. But nothing is impossible right?

Jared: yes debra. i want be a doctor and get a mustang.

-------------

Jared: I learned a lot of things today.

Me: What did you learn about?

Jared: I learned that penicilin is not for little kids like me. Mr Bear told me. Mr Bear is my daddy's doctor.

Me: Oh I see.

Jared: And Miss Hunter taught me how to crack an egg today

-------------

Jared: Miss Hunter said that if you're nice to someone they will be nice to you.

Me: Yes that's very true. You musn't get angry at anyone even if the are bad with you.

Jared: Yes. My uncle and aunty always scold me even when I use manners. But I don't get angry at them.

Me: That's very good of you.

I told him about my time before I change; how I was a rebel and a pessimist. And before sincerely adapting optimism and accepting God into my heart and before David Archuleta's influence.

Jared: God is great.

Me: yes he is

Jared: Daddy says anything is possible with Jesus.

Me: Yeah. I also couldn't have done it without another person. He's a singer who has also helped me be a better person. You'll just have to put Miss Hunter's puppies names together.

Jared: David and Archuleta?

Me: Yup. David Archuleta.

-------------

Jared: Can I tell you a secret?

Me: Sure.

Jared: When I was sleeping, I was with my daddy and I held his hand. Then I saw a big hand and daddy let go of my hand. He said goodbye to me.

Me: What did the big hand say?

Jared: Trust in me and I will guide you through in me.

Me: Who do you think the big hand is?

Jared: Jesus. But I don't know.

NOTE: Rose told me he was crying in his sleep when we were both chatting before he woke up.

Next few seconds, I told him how I dreamt of my old dog after she died and that she told me that she found a nice home.

Jared: Doggie is in heaven. With Daddy.

Me: Yeah. Maybe your daddy and my doggie will keep each other company in heaven.

Jared: I like that. Thankyou debra. I feel better.

-------------

Jared: Can I tell you another secret?

Me: No problem

Jared: Okay, I miss him.

Me: Yeah, I miss my doggie too. But they will never leave us. They want us to be happy.

Jared: Yes debra. I'm sorry.

NOTE: And Rose said he cried again after that. I felt bad, but she said that it helped release everything...so it was okay.

-------------

So, the sun was already rising, and I haven't gotten my sleep. Said goodbye and goodnight, said a prayer and slept. :) It's really like talking to a mini-David. With all his thank yous and sorrys everywhere. LOL Something like that. In other words, living proof that innosece and sincerity still exists in this world. Haha.

Song of the Day: "A Prayer for Children" by David Archuleta, a capella style. Definately suits the topic, yes?

Tweeting with Blake

Oh how much I missed Japanese and Korean (well, mostly Japanese) songs. I used to have this cd full of anime openings, endings, and character songs, but idk where are they now. :(

Recieved a tweet from Blake Lewis today. I liked him better than Jordin back in their Idol year, actually. Haha. Anyway, Blake replies to his fans on twitter too. I think he does as much as he can. Just like Shontelle. He was the first person I got a reply from when I first started twitter. :D

Note: My username was thepurplehawk back then before I changed it to do0dlebugdebz

1. I was asking how was he doing that day.

2. I was asking him if he liked Daniel Powter and Nickelback. :D

3. I was asking him which baseball team he supported.

4. I can't really remember this one. Haha!

...and the recent one.

5. He was mentioning that he gets to head back to his home in Seattle today. And I just said "Good to be home, eh?"...something like that...before I accedentally deleted the tweet I sent him. :( *pouts*

Anyway, I still like Blake. Haha he's a cool guy. Though I'm not hardcore, I'm a normal fan who fancies what he does. Haha.

Night-night all.

Three Weeks More

...till I fly down to KL and kiss my piano, guitar, family and Hazel goodbye for three months (going back for Hari Raya after that. Yaay rendang!) I'm actually looking forward to life on my own. :D It's like showcase week all over again. 'Cept this includes studying and three months.

Anyhoo, BILL! I finished the doodle. The internet was being a bother just now, so, I decided to do that doodle anyway. I gave it a little Disney touch over here. Haha. First time doing that. :)

I shall name her Billie Jean, yes? Lol Kidding.

Two things I want right now. My phone and my blood test results. Oh and my x-ray pics, so that makes 3. Haha. I'm exited okay? :P Oh and my phone's in the shop. :(

Song of the Day: "Hero" by Nickelback. I'm so high, I can hear heaven~

Firsts for a bunch of things

I got my letters yesterday. Ladies and gents, I'm going to CANADA! 8D Exiting yet saddening though. I'll have to leave a lot of things behind. My family, my pet dog, my room willed with my junk, my piano, my guitar... *sobs*

I took my medical check up today. It was awkward 'cause I've NEVER been through these things before. I got my eyes checked, blood pressure checked, x-rayed, blood sampled , and other stuff checked. I'm like WOA after all that.

Today, since there were no springrolling, I went to watch... RABU KON! Also known as, Lovely Complex. The live-action movie, staring my favourite Japanese actor-singer, Koike Teppei as Otani! 8D

The above the picture of the original manga version of Lovely Complex. Below is the Live-Action Movie. Otani is the boy, Risa is the girl. Basically it's a story where a tall girl and a short boy fall in love after they each have sworn to not fall for guys who are short (for Risa, the girl) and girls who are tall (for Otani, the boy). :3 It's pretty cute. I uber LOVE the story line. Teppei really does give an image of Otani. Awesome.

Te-chan!

ETA: I took this from the net 'cause I was lazy to edit a picture. :( And the other picture of Te-chan eating noodles didn't seem to work. Meh. Anyway! Haha I forgot how adorable Teppei is.

Song of the Day: "Calcutta-TaxiDriverMan" by Dr. Bombay. OMgosh this song! It's been like forever since I heard this song! I love it. My bro and I started searching for his old songs... like "S.O.S" and "Buy my Curry Rice". Haha! Awh, memories...
